About the Artist
Eliseo Garcia is a local sculptor whose works are created primarily from Texas limestone, marble and granite. His work is familiar to Irving residents as he was commissioned by the City of Irving to create a sculpture for a local park in 2001. The project allowed visitors to the Arts Center to watch and participate as Garcia created the piece.

About the Artist
Larry Whiteley, a local artist, primarily works with metal to create one-of-a-kind pieces. His sculptures have appeared in several Irving Arts Center exhibitions. In 2001 he created Whiteley Metal Works.

George Tobolowsky constructs his creations by transforming steel into a visual memory that reflects his personal / business experiences of the past several decades. An executive sho has analyzed humanity’s trials in the legal and business world, Tobolowsky channels a solid understanding of metallurgy into whimsical and curvilinear forms.
About the Artist
A Dallas native, Tobolowsky earned his business and law degrees from Southern Methodist University. His minor in sculpture sparked a long standing relationship with Texas sculptor James Surls.

Goddess of the Golden Thighs is on long-term loan from the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C. as part of the Arts Center’s affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution. The piece is monumental in size and represents Nakian’s interest in the modernization of classical mythology.
Many of Nakian’s pieces also reflect his connection with Abstract Expressionism and feature highly textured, roughly worked surfaces.
About the Artist
Reuben Nakian, American, 1897-1986, is noted as one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century, He is known for his Modernist take on classical mythology. His illustrations and sculpture have appeared in nationally recognized museums including the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
