Artist Submissions

Submit an Exhibition Proposal

Exhibition Proposals

Irving Arts Center’s visual arts program is managed internally and includes exhibitions featuring local, regional, and national artists as well as touring exhibitions with the purpose of inspiring, engaging, and educating the citizens of Irving and visitors from surrounding communities and the region.

The Arts Center welcomes and periodically reviews exhibition proposals from professional and emerging artists, curators, and nonprofit art/artist organizations.

Solo and group exhibitions are considered as well as site-specific installations. Proposals for exhibitions and special projects in a wide range of media, that present diverse voices and provide opportunities for community engagement are especially encouraged. All media is considered, and exhibitions are generally scheduled two years in advance.

  • 10 -20 images of recent or proposed work. Please send digital files on a CD or flash drive or via Dropbox or other file sharing site.
  • Checklist of the works presented
  • Any other supporting materials, such as articles and/or reviews of work

Materials may be submitted by hard copy or email to Marcie J. Inman, Director of Exhibitions & Educational Programs, Irving Arts Center, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving, Texas 75062 or minman@cityofirving.org.

Please do not send any materials that you would like returned; the Arts Center cannot be responsible for returning your items. Please do not bring or mail original artwork to the Arts Center.

The review process may take 6 – 12 months, and due to the number of inquiries, it may not be possible to reply to every submission. An Arts Center representative will contact you should additional information be requested for further consideration.

Upon staff evaluation and recommendation, proposals selected for exhibition at the Arts Center are then subject to review by the Visual Arts Committee and approval by the Irving Arts Board.

Exhibition Proposals by Arts Organizations

Irving Arts Center has the first priority on scheduling and use of all the visual arts exhibition spaces for its programming and has a number of long-standing partnerships with Irving-based organizations to present annual exhibitions.

Non-profit arts and arts-related and/or educational organizations that have been in existence for at least three years with a documented record of producing and mounting exhibitions are eligible to submit an exhibition proposal. All such requests by groups and organizations are subject to space availability, recommendation by staff, review by the Visual Arts Committee, and approval by the Irving Arts Board.

Sales of Artwork

Sales are permitted and a price list for all exhibitions, when applicable, is available to the public. The sale of artwork in IAC Galleries is the sole responsibility of the artist or the exhibiting organization. A 20 percent commission on all artwork sold as a result of an Irving Arts Center exhibition is payable to Irving Arts Center. Individuals or organizations engaging in the sale of artwork in the Galleries are required to report all sales and submit the proper tax amounts to the State Tax Comptroller.
