Irving Arts Center offers the perfect framework for adults and children to make art together in the creative atmosphere of Irving Arts Center.

Find inspiration in the gallery exhibitions, holidays and the seasons as families make art, friends and fun!

NEW! During Second Sunday Fundays, take advantage of a docent-led guided tour of the galleries taking place at 2PM on the Second Sunday of the month and for teens, an Open Studio is offered from 1PM to 4PM.

And the best part? It’s FREE!

2024 THEMES

Sept. 8 – Paint It!
Grab a paintbrush & go with the flow to create colorful compositions inspired by nature and your own imagination!

“Bonus Funday”: Sunday, Sept. 15 from  2-4 p.m. 
Join us for a special bonus Family Funday, held concurrent with the annual Art Connection Members Show reception. 

Oct. 13– Sculpt It!
Enjoy an awesome exploration of the 3^rd dimension by making your own sculptural creations with clay, cardboard, and other materials.

Nov. 10 – Happy Birthday, Georgia O’Keeffe!
Celebrate the life and work of American artist, Georgia O’Keeffe (November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986) with art making activities inspired by her iconic flowers.

Dec. 8 – The Art of the Holidays
Find your inner artist and celebrate the season with creative arts & crafts activities for the whole family.

2025 THEMES

Jan. 12 – Lunar New Year: Year of the Snake
In celebration of the 2025 Lunar New Year (January 29), we’ll learn about the animals of the Chinese zodiac and create art inspired by Lunar New Year traditions.

Feb. 2  – Celebrating Black History Month
Let’s celebrate Black History Month by making art inspired by African American artists, past and present.
PLEASE NOTE: February’s 2nd Sunday Funday will be held on the first Sunday of the month!

March 9 – Playing with Patterns
Let’s celebrate National Quilting Month! Join us for quilt-inspired art-making activities led by members of the Irving Quilt Guild.

April 13– Our Beautiful Earth
Celebrate Earth Month with arts & crafts activities inspired by nature’s beauty and learning about positive actions we can take to honor and protect our planet.

May 11- Masterpieces with Mom
May 11 is Mother’s Day! Bring your mom, aunt, grandma or other significant person in your life and celebrate this special day by making some amazing art together!

June 8–The Wright Stuff
Design some seriously astounding structures as we celebrate the birthday of the great American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959).

July 13 – At the Beach
It’s summer! Dive into seaside and beach-themed art activities!

August 10 – Print It!
Learn basic printmaking techniques and create multiple designs and images on cloth and paper.

Sept. 14 – Called to Create: Exploring Folk Art & Outsider Art
Inspired by the artists featured in the Arts Center’s exhibition Rooted Visions, transform found objects and ordinary materials into extraordinary works of art that tell your own story.
