Directed by Scott Werntz, this production debuts with all the ambience his audiences have come to expect. It is a musical adaption of the Old Testament Book of Esther, the epic true story of a beautiful young girl, Esther, who was orphaned at an early age, raised by her uncle, and miraculously became Queen of the powerful Medo-Persian empire. Amid palace intrigue and the threat of death, she heroically saved her people, the Jews, from total annihilation.
Esther the Musical includes beloved songs from the past like Irving Berlin’s “Puttin’ On the Ritz” and the classic “Trumpet Voluntary” to the current release “BAD” from Royal Deluxe. Coming to life on stage this battle for good and evil, love and courage from ancient times still rings true. The author’s desire is that many of the truths portrayed in the story will come as a reminder that perhaps we have been placed here for such a time as this.
