JumpstART Stories & Art

Join us the first Thursday of each month, at 10am at Irving Arts Center for stories and art!

Explore new stories and fun art projects during this creative story time that combines art and children’s literature. Create a take-home art project and then browse the galleries with your kids as part of this fun AND FREE morning activity.

Ages 2 and up. All supplies provided.

Pre-registration is required for groups of 10 or more; please call the Box Office at (972) 252-ARTS (2787).

JumpstART is a collaboration between the Irving Arts Center and the Irving Public Library.

2024 THEMES

September 5 – Things That Go!
Trucks and planes and cars and trains. This month’s theme is transportation and all things that go!

October 3 — ¡Celebramos! Bilingual Story Time!
Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with a special bilingual story time and arts & crafts activities.

November 7 – Giving Thanks!
It’s all about gratitude as we prepare to celebrate the season with family and friends. What are you thankful for?

December 5 — Sweet Treats!
Join us for a scrumptious food-themed story time! We will share delicious stories, sing sweet songs and whip up some terrific arts & crafts creations.

2025 THEMES 

January 9* – Let It Snow!
Brrr! Let’s cozy up for some winter weather tales & an art project inspired by the magic and beauty of a snowy day.

February 6 — Birds of a Feather
Let’s flock together and focus on our fine feathered friends for this month’s story time and art activity.

March 6– Hooray for Books!
This month we are celebrating books & reading!

April 3 – Clouds and Rainbows!
Let’s hop into spring and slide down a rainbow…. Colors, clouds, and spring weather are the themes for this month’s stories and art!

May 1 – It’s Cinco de Mayo Time!
Cinco de Mayo is our theme this month. Let’s celebrate with a special bilingual story time and a fun & festive craft.

June 5– Happy Campers!
Join us around the “campfire” for tales about adventure and fun – indoors and out!

July 10* – Picnic Time for Teddy Bears!
Let’s celebrate Teddy Bear Picnic Day! We’ll read teddy bear stories, sing songs and make a fun, teddy bear-themed craft.

August 7 – Dog Days of Summer!
Beat the heat with stories & art inspired by our cool canine friends!

September 4 – Hats off to Fall!
September is National Hat Month. Let’s celebrate the changing of the seasons with a tribute to this most functional & fashionable of accessories. After story time, we’ll get creative and decorate our own headwear!

*Exceptions are for January and July because of the New Year and 4th of July holidays. For those months JumpstART will be held on the second Thursdays: Jan. 9 and July 10, 2025.
